I have an BA in Elementary Education with a Music minor. I have been teaching the past 28 years. I have taught group, private and online lessons. I have received a Piano Marvel teaching certificate and enjoy learning from other teachers. I have adjudicated students from Alaska in the National Federation Music Clubs. I also participate in the Global Piano Guild and Music Teachers National Association. These groups not only give me opportunities to learn from other teachers, but also gives my students different opportunities to perform for others.
Experience

I have played the piano since I was 7 years old.  I remember when I was a teenager, looking at my piano teachers business license and deciding that teaching piano was what I wanted for my career.  I pursued many musical opportunities from performing at the piano many years to singing at church, on television, in school performances, playing and singing in a band. I am still performing today in my church, with my student and accompanying other instrumentalists.  Music brings peace and joy to my soul and I desire that for my students.  
Expertise/Specialization

I believe as an educator, I am able to help students progress using their learning style (audibly, visually, or kinesthetically).  I enjoy encouraging students to be their best and share their gift of music with others.  We perform once a month to give us goals to work towards and help overcome nervous feelings.

I use Piano Marvel, a variety of method books, Irina Gorins Musical Journey and we work through genres – jazz, hymns, American music, Folk Tunes, Patriotic, Christmas, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern music.
